Speicial Topic Series: NW Montana Avalanche Advisories and Mid Season Weather, Snowpack, and Avalanche Conditions

This is second in our series of special, more in-depth, education presentations on topics relevant to at-the-time backcountry snow and avalanche conditions. Open discussion with questions and answers will be the emphasis.

This session focuses upon the mid season snow and avalanche conditions this year in NW Montana. We will discuss the weather conditions that have gotten us to our current position. Will talk about some of the normal conditions that are thus far absent this year, but which can still develop.

Lastly we want to talk about the avalanche advisory we regularly issue twice a week over most of the season. Will discuss how it is formulated, what are its strong points, and where does weakness lie.

This free of charge program will be Wednesday, February 24, 6:30-9:30pm at the USFS Flathead National Forest Office in Kalispell, 650 Wolfpack Way

Last program in the series is scheduled for Wednesday, March 24.
